I have a number of websites. In a matter of fact, you are currently reading one of those websites. In order for me to make the websites publicly available, I need a hosting company. I am currently using a good hosting company who provides for SSL certificates for free, and gives me unlimited websites, and email addresses. With as many websites as I have, it makes sense to continue to using the hosting company I am currently using.
There is one exception. I would want a domain or a sub-domain for a catch-all email address system. I can see requiring that it points to an email address in the same domain, but they should offer for something. In mid-2025, they no longer offer the ability for a catch-all address. If I would want a catch-all, I will have to looks for a new hosting provider at least for the domain that would have the catch-all system.
